Latin name: Agrocybe aegerita

General
Pioppino usually grow at the foot of poplars, but you can also find then under elders, elms and mulberry trees. They grow in clusters.

Description
The diameter of the cap varies from 3 to 9 cm. The cap is dark brown in the centre and pale nut brown at the margin. The stem is usually between 1 and 1.5 cm thick, but it can grow to anything up to 12 cm. Its texture is fleshy and firm. This mushroom has a slightly flowery smell.

Storage and shelf life
The Pioppino is a firm mushroom which can be stored in the refrigerator for 4 to 5 days. This mushroom does not usually need to be washed.
